Acceptance of terms

By using this website, joining the waitlist, or installing either the iMic for iPhone or iMic for Mac app, you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you don’t agree, don’t use the site or the apps.

Description of the service

iMic is a two-app system by Forthright Tech LLC:

• iMic for iPhone captures microphone audio and streams it over your local network, and can act as a programmable shortcut remote.
• iMic for Mac runs as a menu bar app, receives the stream, and exposes an “iMic” virtual microphone that other Mac apps (Zoom, Meet, Discord, OBS, and similar) can select as an input source, and can execute configured keyboard shortcuts.

iMic requires a one-time admin install of a virtual microphone driver on macOS, and pairs with a single iPhone over your local network. See our Privacy Policy for how audio and pairing data are handled.

Early access & pricing

iMic is offered as an early-access product. Features, system requirements, and availability may change as we continue development, and we may add, modify, or discontinue features without notice. We have not committed to specific pricing at this stage; if that changes, we will update this page and the website before any pricing takes effect.

License grant & acceptable use

Subject to these terms, we grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to install and use the iMic apps for your own personal or internal business purposes.

You agree that you will:

• Only install and use iMic on devices you own or have permission to configure, and only on networks you’re authorized to use.
• Not reverse engineer, decompile, or attempt to extract the source code of the apps, except where applicable law permits it.
• Not use iMic to intercept, capture, or transmit audio without the knowledge and consent of everyone being recorded.
• Not use iMic in any way that violates applicable law, or that interferes with or disrupts the service, other users, or the networks it runs on.
• Not redistribute, resell, or sublicense the apps without our written permission.

Your responsibilities

You’re responsible for the device and network configuration needed to use iMic (a compatible Mac and iPhone on the same local network, and granting the permissions the apps request), for keeping your devices secure, and for how you use the programmable shortcut remote feature, since shortcuts you configure run with your Accessibility permissions on your Mac.

Disclaimer of warranty

iMic and this website are provided “as is” and “as available,” without warranties of any kind, whether express, implied, or statutory, including implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We don’t warrant that iMic will be uninterrupted, error-free, or free of every defect, or that it will meet your specific requirements, particularly given its early-access status.

Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Forthright Tech LLCand its officers, employees, and agents will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of data, use, goodwill, or profits, arising out of or related to your use of iMic or this website, even if we’ve been advised of the possibility of such damages. Our total liability for any claim arising from these terms or your use of iMic will not exceed the amount you paid us, if any, for the product in the twelve months before the claim arose.

Intellectual property

iMic, the iMic name and logo, this website, and all related software, designs, and content are owned by Forthright Tech LLCand are protected by copyright, trademark, and other intellectual property laws. Except for the limited license granted above, no rights are transferred to you, and you may not use our name, logo, or brand assets without our written permission.

Sister products

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws applicable to Forthright Tech LLC, without regard to conflict-of-law principles. We will update this section with a specific jurisdiction before iMic’s general availability launch.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms as iMic evolves. When we do, we’ll revise the “Last updated” date above. Continuing to use the website or the apps after a change takes effect means you accept the updated terms.
